Transmetropolitan: Lust for Life #1

Transmetropolitan: Lust for Life #1 was published by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint in 2000. It serves as a one-shot companion piece to Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson’s seminal cyberpunk series, Transmetropolitan. The issue was created to provide a deeper exploration of the gonzo journalism world inhabited by Spider Jerusalem, offering readers vignettes and supplementary material that enriched the satirical, dystopian atmosphere established in the main run of the title.

The creative direction for this issue leaned into the chaotic, high-energy aesthetic that defined the core series, with Darick Robertson providing his signature detailed, grit-filled character work. It was designed to function as a bridge for fans, maintaining the biting social commentary and counter-cultural ethos that made Transmetropolitan a critical success. Upon release, it was well-received by the existing fanbase as a necessary expansion of the series' dense, hyper-modernist universe.
