Ueno-kun wa Kaihatsuzumi #9

Ueno-kun wa Kaihatsuzumi, authored by Tugeneko, is a manga series primarily serialized in the seinen magazine Young Animal. This ninth volume continues the narrative focus on the titular character, Ueno, a brilliant but socially awkward genius middle school student who uses her scientific inventions to express her romantic interest in her classmate, Tanaka. The series is celebrated for its blend of absurd science fiction tropes and slapstick comedy, centering on the recurring gag of Ueno's overly complicated gadgets failing to achieve her romantic goals.

The character design and illustrative style, handled by Tugeneko, emphasize expressive, often exaggerated reactions that define the series' comedic pacing. The ninth volume maintains the established aesthetic of the series, which has been well-received by fans of the school-life comedy genre for its balance of inventive scenarios and lighthearted character dynamics. As a staple of the Young Animal line, the volume reflects the series' long-term evolution and its ability to sustain its premise through consistent stylistic choices and character-driven humor.
