Where it came from
Ultimate Fantastic Four #25 was released in 2006 as part of Marvel Comics' Ultimate line, an imprint launched in the early 2000s to modernize classic characters for a new generation of readers. This specific issue is notable for being the first chapter of the 'Crossover' arc, a highly anticipated narrative event that brought the Ultimate Fantastic Four into contact with the Marvel Zombies universe, a darkly comedic and gruesome reality created by Robert Kirkman.
The issue was written by Mark Millar with interior art by Greg Land. The creative team aimed to blend the adventurous tone of the Fantastic Four with the visceral, horror-inspired aesthetic of the zombie sub-genre. Upon its release, the issue received significant attention from the comic book community for its provocative cover art and its role in launching what would become one of Marvel's most popular and long-standing spin-off franchises.
