Usagi Yojimbo #100

Usagi Yojimbo issue 100, published in 2008, represents a significant milestone in Stan Sakai’s long-running independent comic series. The title, which follows the adventures of a ronin rabbit in feudal Japan, has been celebrated for its blend of historical detail, martial arts cinema influence, and fluid anthropomorphic character design. This specific issue was crafted as a self-contained story that honored the legacy of the character, reinforcing Sakai’s reputation for disciplined storytelling and masterful brushwork within the medium.

The issue was received with critical warmth, serving as a testament to the series' consistency and the dedicated fanbase Sakai cultivated since the comic’s inception in the mid-1980s. Its design maintains the minimalist, high-contrast aesthetic that characterizes the entire run, reflecting Sakai’s background in animation and lettering. By the time this centennial issue arrived, it was widely acknowledged as a staple of independent comics, recognized for its commitment to both accessibility for new readers and structural depth for long-term followers.
