Usagi Yojimbo #20, published in 1989, is part of the original Mirage Studios run of Stan Sakai’s celebrated anthropomorphic samurai epic. This issue falls within the middle of the first volume, a period where Sakai was deeply refining his synthesis of Japanese history, folklore, and classic chambara cinema through the lens of Miyamoto Usagi’s wanderings.
