Valkyrie Apocalypse #22

Valkyrie Apocalypse, known in Japan as Record of Ragnarok, is a seinen manga series written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and illustrated by Ajichika. First serialized in Monthly Comic Zenon in 2017, the series centers on a grand tournament where thirteen humans and thirteen gods battle to determine the fate of humanity. The series rose to significant prominence due to its high-octane, stylized fight choreography and dramatic character reinterpretations, which successfully bridged the gap between historical figures and mythological archetypes.

Issue 22 serves as a pivotal installment within the series' ongoing narrative arc, reflecting the refined, hyper-detailed artistic aesthetic that has become synonymous with Ajichika’s work. As the series progressed, the visual design became increasingly focused on intricate character designs and cinematic panel layouts, which have been widely praised by readers for their intensity. The manga’s critical reception has been buoyed by its adaptation into a major animated series, cementing its status as a staple of the contemporary combat-manga genre.
