Valor #10

Valor issue number 10 was published in 1954 by EC Comics, a house renowned for its provocative and high-quality storytelling during the mid-twentieth century. As part of the company's New Direction line, the series was established to explore adventure and historical fiction themes under the editorial guidance of William Gaines. The title sought to pivot away from the publisher’s previous focus on horror and suspense, aiming to provide readers with expansive, heroic tales set across different eras of human history.

The creative direction of Valor was heavily influenced by the work of artists such as Wally Wood and Joe Orlando, who brought a sophisticated, illustrative quality to the pages that distinguished the series from its competitors. Despite the high artistic caliber of the storytelling, the series struggled to maintain a consistent audience as the comics industry faced significant regulatory pressure and shifts in reader interest during the mid-1950s. Consequently, the series concluded its run shortly after this issue, remaining a notable example of the artistic ambition found in EC's final creative experiments.
