Vigilante #6

Vigilante #6, published by DC Comics in 1984, arrived during a period in the mid-1980s when the publisher was exploring grittier, more grounded anti-hero narratives. The series, written by Marv Wolfman with art by George Pérez and others, followed Adrian Chase, a district attorney turned vigilante. This specific issue maintains the series' characteristic focus on the psychological toll of extrajudicial justice, reflecting the cultural shift toward darker themes in the Bronze Age of comic books.

The visual direction of the series was heavily influenced by the contemporary urban crime aesthetic, seeking to differentiate the title from the more traditional superhero fare of the era. The art was designed to emphasize the harsh reality of Chase’s mission, often employing stark layouts and expressive character work. Upon its release, the series was noted for its departure from standard DC tropes, establishing the Vigilante as a complex, often morally ambiguous figure within the DC Universe.
