Vision and the Scarlet Witch #2

Vision and the Scarlet Witch #2 was published by Marvel Comics in 1982 as part of a limited series that explored the domestic lives and personal histories of the two titular Avengers. Written by Bill Mantlo with interior art by Rick Leonardi, the issue is notable for its exploration of the complex lineage of the Scarlet Witch, delving into the mysterious connections between the characters and the broader mutant lore of the Marvel Universe. It served to ground these larger-than-life superheroes in a relatable, suburban setting, a thematic direction that deepened their character development for years to follow.

The creative direction for this series reflected a transition toward more intimate, character-driven storytelling within the superhero genre during the early 1980s. Leonardi’s illustrative style, characterized by a fluid and expressive approach, helped emphasize the emotional tension between the characters as they grappled with their unconventional origins. At the time of its release, the series was received as a significant expansion of the characters' mythos, providing fans with essential context that had been obscured in their various guest appearances across other titles.
