Vs. Love #2

Vs. Love #2 emerged as part of a short-lived alternative comics anthology series during the mid-1980s, a period defined by a surge in independent and small-press publishing. The title was conceptualized to explore the intersections of romance, satire, and the gritty aesthetic of the underground comix scene, providing a counter-narrative to the more traditional, idealized depictions of love found in mainstream media of the era.

The series featured contributions from various underground illustrators who favored raw, stylized line work and bold, often cynical storytelling. Rather than adhering to the polished production values of commercial comics, Vs. Love leaned into a DIY punk sensibility. While it remained a niche publication, it is remembered by enthusiasts as a sincere attempt to subvert the genre through stylistic experimentation and a stark, uncompromising thematic focus on the complexities of interpersonal relationships.
