Walt Disney Daisy and Donald #28

Daisy and Donald #28 was published in 1952 by Dell Comics as part of their long-running Four Color anthology series, which served as a home for many licensed Disney characters during the Golden Age of American comic books. The series was designed to appeal to younger readers and family audiences, leveraging the immense popularity of the short-tempered Donald Duck and the increasingly prominent Daisy Duck. These issues were mass-produced for newsstand distribution, emphasizing whimsical, character-driven adventures that mirrored the tone of Disney’s theatrical short films of the era.

The aesthetic of this period was defined by the house style of Western Publishing, which held the licensing rights to print Disney material. The illustrators and writers, often working under strict editorial guidelines to maintain the personalities established by Disney animation, focused on clear layouts and expressive character acting. While the creative teams frequently remained uncredited due to the studio-style production model of the time, the work is highly regarded by collectors for its role in cementing the interpersonal dynamics between Donald and Daisy, providing a foundational narrative framework for their relationship in print.
