Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker's County Fair #2

Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker's County Fair #2 was released in the early 1950s as part of a series published by Dell Comics. During this era, Dell held the licensing rights to the Walter Lantz library, creating comic adaptations to extend the reach of the popular theatrical animated shorts. These publications were designed to capture the frantic, slapstick energy of the screen versions while adapting them to the static, sequential format of the comic page.

The interior art and character direction were executed by the Dell-Western studio staff, who maintained a house style meant to ensure consistency with the established Lantz visual identity. Woody Woodpecker was a prominent cultural icon at the time, and this series served to capitalize on the character's recognizable personality. The comic was received primarily by young readers as supplemental entertainment to the recurring Saturday morning theatrical cartoons, serving as a staple of the mid-century newsstand comic market.
