Web of Spider-Man #25

Published in April 1987, Web of Spider-Man #25 was part of Marvel Comics' effort to expand Spider-Man's presence across multiple monthly titles during the mid-1980s. The issue was written by David Michelinie, a veteran scribe who helped define the character's voice during this era, and featured art by Marc Silvestri. The cover, which remains a notable visual of the period, highlights the intense, character-driven storytelling that defined Michelinie's tenure, focusing on the high-stakes personal drama that frequently intersected with Peter Parker's heroic life.

The story, titled 'The City Plagues,' serves as a window into the editorial direction of the Spider-Man line at the time, which favored serialized, moody narratives that explored the burden of the Spider-Man identity. Silvestri’s illustration style provided a grittier, more dynamic aesthetic that complemented the era's shift toward more mature, action-oriented comic storytelling. While this issue is not categorized as a major key, it is recognized by collectors as a representative example of the late-eighties Bronze Age transition, valued primarily for its specific creative team and its role in maintaining the narrative momentum of the Spider-Man mythos.
