WildC.A.T.s: Covert Action Teams #27

WildC.A.T.s: Covert Action Teams #27 was published by Image Comics in 1996 as part of the Wildstorm imprint. The series was originally created by Jim Lee and Brandon Choi in 1992 as one of the flagship titles of the Image collective, focusing on a team of superpowered heroes engaged in an ancient war between the Kherubim and the Daemonites. By the time this issue was released, the title had undergone significant creative shifts, reflecting the era's focus on experimental storytelling and expanding the complex extraterrestrial lore established in earlier arcs.

The creative direction for this period of the series was spearheaded by writer James Robinson and artist Travis Charest, who brought a more polished, nuanced visual style to the book. Charest’s work during this run is frequently cited by collectors for its intricate detail and technical precision, which helped elevate the title's aesthetic standing within the competitive landscape of mid-nineties comic books. The issue serves as a moment of transition for the team, balancing the high-octane action expected of the Image house style with a developing emphasis on character-driven narratives.
