Where it came from
X #6 was published in 1994 as part of the initial X series, a dark, apocalyptic fantasy manga created by the artist collective CLAMP. The series was serialized in Monthly Asuka and reflected the group's signature blend of ornate character designs and existential themes, centered on the struggle for the fate of the world between the Dragons of Heaven and the Dragons of Earth.
The art style showcased in this issue highlights CLAMP's shift toward the more dramatic, ethereal aesthetic that defined the mid-nineties period of their work. Readers and critics at the time lauded the series for its intricate panel layouts and the emotional depth of its protagonist, Kamui Shirou, whose personal turmoil serves as the anchor for the story's complex supernatural conflicts.
