X-Men '97: Season Two #5

X-Men '97: Season Two is a comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics, designed to serve as a bridge and companion piece to the acclaimed Disney+ animated series. The title was developed to explore narrative gaps and character beats that expand upon the show's revival of the classic 1990s aesthetic, specifically capturing the high-stakes, soap-operatic tone that defined the original X-Men: The Animated Series. This specific issue continues the serialized storytelling format that Marvel historically uses to keep fans engaged between seasons of their television projects.

The creative direction for this series leans heavily into the nostalgic character designs and visual language established by the animated show's animation team. By utilizing a team of writers and artists tasked with maintaining continuity with the screen production, Marvel aimed to provide a medium that felt like a missing episode of the series. The reception has been largely centered on the nostalgia of the target demographic and the ongoing popularity of the X-Men franchise as a cornerstone of Marvel's cultural identity.
