X-Men '97: Strike Files Infinity Comic #1

X-Men '97: Strike Files Infinity Comic #1 was published by Marvel in 2024 to coincide with the release of the Disney+ animated series X-Men '97. Designed as a digital-first companion piece, the series serves to bridge the gap between the original 1990s animated run and the revival, offering fans supplemental dossiers and background information on the team members and their histories. The creative team utilized this format to expand upon the lore established in the show's narrative, focusing on character profiles that mirror the style of physical trading cards or government-issued files.

The aesthetic of the series deliberately leans into the nostalgic visual identity of the 1990s source material, while adapting it for a vertical-scrolling digital medium. By focusing on the 'Strike Files' concept, the writers and artists intended to provide a functional, immersive experience that acts as a technical guidebook for the updated animation. The comic was received as an effective piece of franchise marketing, lauded by followers of the show for its dedication to the continuity and design sensibilities of the classic X-Men aesthetic.
