X-Men United #4

X-Men United #4 was published in 2003 as part of a four-issue limited series intended to tie directly into the continuity and aesthetic of the film X2: X-Men United. Produced by Marvel Comics during a period when the studio was heavily leveraging its cinematic output to reach a broader audience, the series served as a bridge between the comic book source material and the specific character interpretations established by director Bryan Singer.

The series featured creative contributions designed to echo the visual tone of the motion picture, utilizing art styles that emphasized the sleek, leather-clad costumes popularized on screen. While these tie-in books were often viewed by critics as secondary to the core X-Men monthly titles, they remain notable for their attempt to harmonize the divergent lore of the cinematic universe with the expansive, long-standing history of the printed X-Men franchise.
