X-O Manowar #23

X-O Manowar issue 23 was published in 1993 by Valiant Comics during the peak of the independent publisher's prominence in the 1990s comic book boom. The series follows Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth warrior abducted by aliens who bonds with a sentient, powerful suit of armor to return to Earth. This specific issue is part of the established Valiant Universe continuity, which was known for its grounded approach to superpowers and its interconnected storytelling style.

The issue features work by writer Bob Layton and artist Sal Velluto, creators who were instrumental in defining the visual and narrative tone of the character during the early nineties. The design and aesthetic reflected the era's preference for high-tech, armored protagonists and dynamic, muscular illustrations. The book was well-received by the existing readership of the time for maintaining the internal consistency and action-oriented momentum that characterized the early Valiant titles.
