Yakuza Reincarnation #15

Yakuza Reincarnation, known in Japan as Yakuza Reincarnation (Ryū to Musume), is a manga series written by Hiroki Miyashita and illustrated by Kenichi Kiriki. The series began serialization in 2019 within the pages of Monthly Sunday Gene-X, offering a genre-bending premise that fuses the traditional yakuza crime drama with the portal fantasy isekai subgenre. The narrative follows an aging yakuza boss who is transported to a magical realm and inhabits the body of a young girl, retaining his tough, underworld sensibilities in a fantastical setting.

The series is noted for its juxtaposition of gritty, noir-inspired character archetypes against high-fantasy tropes, a stylistic choice that challenges standard character design expectations within its demographic. Issue #15 continues the established arc of the protagonist maneuvering through political and supernatural conflicts, maintaining the series' focus on dark humor and brutal combat choreography. It has been received as a unique entry in the crowded fantasy market, credited with subverting the tropes of the reincarnated hero by anchoring the character in the stoic, cynical ethos of an old-school Japanese gangster.
