Yowai 5000-Nen no Sōshoku Dragon, Iwarenaki Jaryū Nintei #5

Yowai 5000-Nen no Sōshoku Dragon, Iwarenaki Jaryū Nintei, known in English as A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized, originated as a light novel series written by Kaisei Enomoto and illustrated by Shugao. The series was serialized online starting in 2017 before being picked up for print publication by Kadokawa. The narrative centers on an ancient, peaceful dragon who finds himself coerced into a pact by a young girl who believes him to be an evil, all-powerful deity, leading to a comedic and often satirical subversion of classic fantasy tropes.

The fifth volume of the light novel series continues the established tone of the franchise, blending character-driven humor with the developing bond between the dragon and his self-proclaimed disciple. The character designs by Shugao emphasize the dragon's surprisingly gentle aesthetic, contrasting with the epic, often misunderstood reputation he holds within the story’s world. The series has been received as a lighthearted contribution to the 'isekai' and fantasy comedy genres, eventually inspiring both a manga adaptation and a web anime series.
