Where it came from
Yozakura Quartet, authored and illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda, began its serialization in Monthly Shōnen Sirius in 2006. The series is celebrated for its distinctive blend of supernatural urban fantasy and lighthearted slice-of-life elements, set in the town of Sakurashin where humans and yokai coexist. Volume 18 continues the series' long-running narrative focus on the town's guardian quartet as they navigate complex inter-species tensions.
Suzuhito Yasuda, who is also renowned for his character design work on franchises like Durarara!! and Digimon, brings a signature kinetic, stylish aesthetic to the series. Volume 18 reflects the mature development of his art style, which emphasizes dynamic action sequences and intricate character portrayals. Upon release, the volume was received as a continuation of Yasuda’s specific vision, maintaining a dedicated readership within the seinen manga demographic for its balance of high-stakes conflict and detailed world-building.
