Zorro #198811

The 1988 Zorro series, published by Marvel Comics under its Star Comics imprint, was developed during a period when the publisher was seeking to revitalize classic swashbuckling adventure stories for a younger demographic. Released in November 1988, this specific issue fits within a short-lived run that aimed to capitalize on the enduring appeal of the masked vigilante, blending traditional pulp narrative elements with contemporary comic book art sensibilities of the late eighties.

The series featured work by industry veterans who utilized a dynamic, action-oriented aesthetic characteristic of the era's adventure comics. While the title was designed to introduce new generations to the lore of Don Diego de la Vega, the series ultimately struggled to capture a broad audience, leading to its cancellation shortly thereafter. It remains a notable example of Marvel's attempt to bridge the gap between classic hero archetypes and the evolving comic market of the late twentieth century.
