Where it came from
The Inner Chi resource card, cataloged as LGS288, was released as part of the Local Game Store Promos program. These promotional initiatives were designed to incentivize community play and support brick-and-mortar hobby shops by providing exclusive, limited-run cards that were not available in standard retail booster packs. This specific card was distributed to participants of official organized play events, serving as a tactical reward for frequenting local venues.
The visual aesthetic of the Local Game Store Promo series generally emphasizes streamlined, utilitarian design to ensure clarity during fast-paced competitive gameplay. While the individual illustrator for LGS288 is often credited within the game's broader archival database, the design philosophy behind this card focused on thematic consistency with the core set's resource mechanics. Upon release, it was well-received by players for its balance of utility and the prestige associated with its limited distribution status.
