Provenance

Where it came from

The Wartune Herald was released as part of the Monarch set for the Flesh and Blood trading card game. Developed by Legend Story Studios and released in 2021, the Monarch set was designed to shift the game's competitive meta by introducing the shadow and light talents, specifically focusing on the battle between the forces of darkness and righteousness. As a common action card, the Wartune Herald serves as a foundational utility piece within the Light Warrior archetype, designed to support the set's central 'go again' mechanics and combat chain structure.

The visual identity of the Monarch set was crafted by an internal team of illustrators at Legend Story Studios, aiming for a high-fantasy aesthetic that emphasizes the ethereal nature of the Light talent. The Wartune Herald specifically utilizes heraldic motifs to convey its role in rallying troops and signaling the start of a combat chain. Upon its release, the set was well-received by the TCG community for its complex interplay between the new classes, with the Herald recognized by players as a consistent, accessible staple for budget-friendly deck building within the competitive circuit.
