Where it came from
The Abu (Flocked) Funko Pop, numbered 353 in the Disney series, was released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney's 1992 animated film, Aladdin. This particular variant features a felt-like, textured finish known as 'flocking,' which was applied to the figure to mimic the tactile quality of the character's fur, providing a specialized aesthetic appeal for collectors seeking unique textures beyond the standard vinyl finish.
Funko’s design approach for the Aladdin series aimed to capture the essence of the film's iconic animation style while maintaining the signature Pop! aesthetic, characterized by oversized heads and minimalist features. Abu, Aladdin’s loyal capuchin monkey companion, was rendered in his classic vest and fez attire. The flocked variant was received as a desirable niche item within the broader Disney collection, appealing to fans of the original film who appreciate high-quality material variations in their displays.
