Where it came from
This vinyl figure, numbered 1291 in the Funko Pop! Animation series, depicts Portgas D. Ace, a central and beloved character from the long-running manga and anime series One Piece. It was produced by Funko to celebrate the character's legacy within the franchise, capturing his signature look complete with his orange cowboy hat, bead necklace, and the iconic whitebeard tattoo on his back. The design emphasizes the stylized aesthetic characteristic of the Pop! line, featuring the oversized head and minimalist facial features that have become a hallmark of the brand's global appeal.
The figure emerged as part of a significant expansion of Funko’s One Piece line, which aimed to capitalize on the series' immense popularity following its decades-long cultural impact. Character designers at Funko focused on distilling Ace's complex, action-oriented design into the compact, collectible form factor that fans have come to expect. Upon its release, the figure was met with enthusiasm from collectors and anime fans alike, serving as a popular commemorative piece that honors one of the series' most emotionally resonant narrative arcs.
