Where it came from
The Ace of Spades Pop! Album was released as part of the Funko Pop! Albums series, a line designed to celebrate iconic musical history by pairing stylized vinyl figures with the artwork from legendary records. This specific entry commemorates the 1980 studio album by Motörhead, a seminal heavy metal release that defined the band's raucous, high-energy sound. The figure depicts the band's mascot, Snaggletooth, in the context of the album's famous Western-themed sleeve.
The design process for the Pop! Albums series focuses on translating intricate album covers into a three-dimensional display format. By framing the figure within a hard-case display that mimics the square dimensions of a vinyl record jacket, Funko aimed to provide a compact, archival-style collectible for music enthusiasts. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by the rock and metal community, largely viewed as a nostalgic tribute to Lemmy Kilmister and the enduring legacy of the Ace of Spades album.
