Where it came from
The Anthony Davis Funko Pop! figure, number 65 in the Pop! Basketball series, was released to celebrate the star forward’s arrival as a cornerstone of the Los Angeles Lakers. Funko launched this specific entry during the height of the Lakers' 2019-2020 championship campaign, aiming to capture the aesthetic of the franchise's iconic purple and gold jersey. It served as a commemorative piece for collectors tracking the NBA's biggest roster shifts of that era.
The figure follows Funko's signature stylized design language, featuring the oversized head and simplified facial features that define the brand’s aesthetic. The design team focused on replicating Davis’s recognizable uniform details and team branding to provide an authentic representation for sports enthusiasts. Upon its release, it became a standard inclusion for fans of the franchise, finding a place in the broader collection of NBA-licensed memorabilia produced by the company.
