Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney line to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid, this figure features Ariel in her iconic purple shell top and green tail. The specific release utilizes a glitter-infused plastic finish on the tail and hair, a design choice intended to evoke the shimmering underwater aesthetic of the character's cinematic appearance.
As with much of the Pop! Disney series, the figure was stylized by Funko’s in-house design team to adhere to the company's signature aesthetic: a large, square-shaped head, small black eyes, and a compact, simplified body. Upon its release, it became a sought-after piece for collectors focusing on the Disney Princess sub-line, serving as both a nostalgia-driven celebration of the film's milestone anniversary and a standard entry in the broader Funko vinyl figurine catalog.
