Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney line in 2018, this figure commemorates the 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid. It represents a specific aesthetic departure for the character, featuring Ariel with stylized heart-shaped eyes, a design choice intended to capture the character's sense of wonder and romantic infatuation during her time on land.
The figure was designed following Funko's signature aesthetic guidelines, which prioritize simplified geometry and oversized heads to maintain brand consistency across various intellectual properties. As part of a larger series of Disney-themed collectibles, it was aimed at both casual fans of the film and dedicated toy collectors, receiving a positive reception for its departure from standard expressions and its alignment with the whimsical tone of the movie.
