Where it came from
Released by Funko in 2017, this vinyl figure commemorates Barbara Holland, a breakout supporting character from the first season of the Netflix series Stranger Things. Her sudden disappearance in the show became a cultural touchstone and a rallying cry for viewers, leading to the '#JusticeForBarb' movement. Funko produced this figure as part of its inaugural wave of Stranger Things collectibles to capitalize on the character's unexpected and enduring popularity among the show's massive fanbase.
The design of the figure leans into Funko's signature stylized aesthetic, featuring Barb's distinctive oversized glasses, ruffled blouse, and voluminous 1980s-era hairstyle. The sculpting captures her earnest and somewhat reserved demeanor as presented in the series. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors who sought to round out their Stranger Things displays, serving as a nostalgic tribute to a character whose brief appearance left a significant mark on modern pop culture.
