Where it came from
The Candyman Funko Pop, numbered 1157 in the Pop! Movies series, was released to coincide with the 2021 spiritual sequel directed by Nia DaCosta. It depicts the titular supernatural antagonist, portrayed by Tony Todd in the original 1992 film, complete with his signature hook and fur-lined coat. The figure draws directly from the iconography of the urban legend established by Clive Barker's source material, aiming to capture the character's eerie, menacing presence in the brand's signature stylized aesthetic.
Funko’s design team leaned into the specific visual markers that defined the character, specifically highlighting the tragic, refined appearance of the hook-handed ghost. As part of a larger push by Funko to celebrate horror icons, the figure was well-received by fans of the franchise and collectors of cult cinema memorabilia. It serves as a tribute to the character's enduring legacy in the slasher genre, balancing the simplified Pop aesthetic with the distinctive, dark elegance of the film's production design.
