Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies series, the Candyman figure (number 1158) commemorates the iconic horror antagonist from the 1992 cult classic film directed by Bernard Rose. This figure captures the character's most unsettling signature detail: the swarm of bees emanating from his chest, referencing the tragic backstory of the vengeful spirit Daniel Robitaille. It was designed to appeal to horror collectors by translating the film's gothic atmosphere and gruesome imagery into the stylized, compact aesthetic of the Pop! vinyl line.
The design process for this piece focused on maintaining the character's elegant yet menacing appearance, featuring his signature trench coat and hook prosthetic. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise, particularly as it arrived during a period of renewed interest in the character following the 2021 sequel. The figure serves as a collectible tribute to the lasting influence of Tony Todd’s portrayal of the urban legend.
