Where it came from
The Carol Peletier prototype belongs to the first wave of Funko Pop! Television figures based on AMC's The Walking Dead, a series that debuted as part of Funko’s aggressive expansion into licensed pop culture properties during the mid-2010s. The figure was designed to capture Carol's evolution from a timid survivor into a pragmatic tactician, opting for her iconic look featuring short hair and a tactical vest, which helped ground the stylized aesthetic in the gritty reality of the show.
As a prototype, this item represents the pre-production phase of the manufacturing process, typically used for color testing and quality control before mass-market release. These unpainted or test-colored samples were created by Funko's internal design team to calibrate the vinyl casting process and verify the structural integrity of the molds. They are held in high regard by collectors as artifacts that offer a glimpse into the technical journey from concept art to the final retail product seen on store shelves.
