Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, this figure depicts Cell in his initial, insectoid form from the Dragon Ball Z series. First appearing during the Androids Saga, this version of the character is defined by his distinctive green exoskeleton, tail, and wings, representing the bio-engineered nightmare designed by Dr. Gero to absorb Androids 17 and 18 to achieve his perfect form.
The figure reflects Funko's signature stylized aesthetic, balancing the character's menacing source material with the company's trademark large-head, wide-eye design language. It was released to appeal to long-time Dragon Ball fans seeking to complete their villain lineups, and it received positive reception for accurately capturing the intricate patterns and color palette of Cell's first iteration.
