Champ Bear

Champ Bear was released as part of the Pop! Animation line to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Care Bears franchise, which first debuted as greeting card illustrations by Elena Kucharik in 1982. The character, defined by his athletic prowess and the trophy symbol on his belly, was introduced in the early 1980s to encourage sportsmanship and optimism. This specific Funko design follows the established aesthetic of the series, translating the soft, iconic plush toy appearance into the recognizable vinyl format with the oversized head and stylized eyes characteristic of the Pop! brand.

The 40th-anniversary collection was designed to evoke nostalgia for the original generation of Care Bears fans while maintaining the minimalist, collectible appeal that has driven the Pop! line's popularity. Funko’s design team maintained the character's signature teal coloring and classic expression, ensuring the figure remained consistent with the visual canon established by American Greetings. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors who prioritize anniversary-themed editions, serving as a contemporary tribute to the enduring cultural legacy of the Care Bears.
