Where it came from
Chef Louis was released by Funko in 2019 as part of a commemorative collection celebrating the 30th anniversary of Disney's 1989 animated classic, The Little Mermaid. This figure captures the manic, knife-wielding antagonist responsible for the film's iconic 'Les Poissons' musical sequence, reflecting the brand's focus on expanding its Disney character roster to include secondary villains and niche supporting roles.
The design follows the standard Pop! aesthetic, translating the character's exaggerated proportions and signature white chef's uniform into a stylized vinyl form. By focusing on the 30th anniversary milestone, Funko aimed to appeal to long-term collectors and fans of the Renaissance-era Disney films, offering a whimsical physical representation of a character defined by his theatrical obsession with preparing seafood.
