Where it came from
Chef Saltbaker is a character from the 2022 downloadable content for the video game Cuphead, titled The Delicious Last Course. As the primary antagonist of the expansion, he operates the bakery in Inkwell Isle IV, initially posing as a mentor to the protagonists before revealing his true, malevolent intentions. The character was designed to mirror the game's signature 1930s rubber-hose animation aesthetic, utilizing fluid, expressive lines that pay homage to the golden age of American animation.
Funko released this vinyl figure as number 900 in the Pop! Games series, capturing the character in his classic chef's attire with his distinctive saltshaker-shaped head. The design emphasizes his exaggerated features and whimsical, retro art style, which aligns with the game's challenging boss mechanics and visual complexity. Upon release, the figure was well received by collectors of the franchise for accurately translating the intricate details of the game's unique hand-drawn animation into a three-dimensional collectible format.
