Where it came from
The Chewbacca Life Day Funko Pop, numbered 576 in the Pop! Star Wars series, was released to commemorate the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. It depicts the Wookiee character dressed in red ceremonial robes holding a Life Day orb, an iconic piece of lore that originated from the television event's focus on the Wookiee celebration of peace and prosperity on Kashyyyk.
Designed in the signature Funko aesthetic, the figure aimed to pay homage to the kitschy, cult-classic status of the special. While the holiday broadcast itself was largely panned by critics and remains a divisive subject among fans, the Life Day imagery has since been embraced by Lucasfilm as a recurring element in official media, leading this figure to be viewed as a lighthearted nod to the most unusual corner of the Star Wars expanded universe.
