Cinnamoroll [Box Lunch]

Cinnamoroll debuted as a Sanrio character in 2001, designed by Miyuki Okumura. The character was envisioned as a white, long-eared puppy with a tail shaped like a cinnamon roll, intended to capture the signature 'kawaii' aesthetic that defined the Sanrio brand. His popularity grew steadily over two decades, eventually securing his place as a recurring top performer in the annual Sanrio Character Ranking, which paved the way for his integration into the Funko Pop! vinyl figure line.

This specific figure, number 86 in the Sanrio series, was produced as a retail exclusive for the specialty chain BoxLunch. Funko designers adapted the character's distinctively oversized ears and blue eyes into the standard Pop! form factor, emphasizing the character's gentle and helpful personality. Released to meet the high demand for Sanrio merchandise, the figure reflects a broader strategy of leveraging specific pop-culture partnerships to reach collectors of mascot-driven toy series.
