Where it came from
Clifford the Big Red Dog, number 28 in the Pop! Books series, was released by Funko to commemorate the enduring legacy of Norman Bridwell’s iconic children’s character. Originally introduced in 1963, Clifford became a cornerstone of children's literature, representing themes of kindness and acceptance. The Funko design captures the character’s unmistakable bright red fur and gentle, oversized features, rendered in the brand's signature stylized aesthetic to appeal to nostalgic adult collectors and fans of the source material.
The figure emerged during a period of expansion for Funko’s literature-themed lines, which sought to bring classic characters from the printed page into the collectible toy market. By emphasizing Clifford’s distinct silhouette and friendly expression, the designers aimed to evoke the charm of the original picture books while maintaining the minimalist, uniform look of the Pop! vinyl series. Since its release, the figure has been received as a faithful tribute to the beloved hound, frequently sought after by those interested in the intersections of pop culture and literary history.
