Where it came from
The Conan the Barbarian (War Paint) Funko Pop, numbered 381 in the Movies line, was released as a Diamond Comic Distributors PX Previews Exclusive. This figure depicts Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular character from the 1982 film adaptation directed by John Milius, specifically capturing his appearance during the final confrontation when he dons ritualistic war paint to face Thulsa Doom. The design choice to feature this specific look was intended to appeal to long-time fans of the film's gritty aesthetic and heroic imagery.
As a Previews Exclusive, this item was distributed specifically through the direct market, primarily to independent comic book shops and specialty retailers rather than mass-market retailers. This distribution strategy was designed to generate excitement among collectors of cult cinema memorabilia, positioning the figure as a niche, sought-after variant. While the Pop figure line is known for its stylized, uniform aesthetic, this Conan variant was lauded for its specific detailing, including the iconic war paint application and the inclusion of his signature Atlantean sword.
