Where it came from
The Concept Series Boba Fett Funko Pop, numbered 388, draws its inspiration from the original pre-production sketches created by legendary conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie for The Empire Strikes Back. During the late 1970s, McQuarrie’s vision for the bounty hunter featured a clean, stark white armor design that differed significantly from the weathered, multi-colored iteration that eventually appeared on screen, serving as a foundational piece of Star Wars aesthetic history.
Funko released this figure as part of its Star Wars Concept Series to celebrate the artistic origins of the franchise’s most iconic characters. The design intentionally highlights McQuarrie’s minimalist color palette and unique structural elements, such as the distinct silhouette of the prototype helmet. It has been well-received by collectors who prioritize the intersection of early film concept art and modern vinyl collectibles, standing as a tribute to the creative process behind the galaxy far, far away.
