Where it came from
Cornelius, or 'Cornelius Rooster,' was introduced by Kellogg’s in 1957 as the official mascot for Corn Flakes. Created by the Leo Burnett advertising agency, the character was designed to bring a friendly, wholesome morning persona to the breakfast cereal brand. Over the decades, Cornelius transitioned from a simple illustrative presence on cereal boxes into a recognizable cultural icon of mid-century American breakfast culture.
Funko released this Pop! Ad Icons figure, number 225, as part of their ongoing series celebrating classic corporate mascots. The design translates the rooster’s signature bright green plumage and vibrant red comb into the stylized, large-headed aesthetic characteristic of the Pop! line. It was produced for collectors who focus on brand history and nostalgia, serving as a three-dimensional tribute to one of the longest-running advertising campaigns in cereal history.
