Where it came from
Count Orlok, the iconic antagonist from F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent horror masterpiece Nosferatu, was immortalized as Pop! figure number 1267 in the Funko Pop! Movies line. Released to honor the legacy of German Expressionist cinema, the figure captures the vampiric Count’s gaunt, rat-like appearance, which was originally brought to life by actor Max Schreck. The design team focused on maintaining the unsettling silhouette of the character, emphasizing his elongated fingers and pointed ears to distinguish him from more traditional, romanticized depictions of vampires.
This figure serves as a tribute to the enduring influence of the 1922 film, which remains a cornerstone of the horror genre despite its tumultuous production history and near-destruction by the Bram Stoker estate. Funko’s stylized aesthetic strips away the stark, high-contrast shadows of the original black-and-white film, offering a minimalist interpretation that leans into the toy company's signature oversized-head design. It has been well-received by horror enthusiasts and cinephiles alike, functioning as a tangible piece of film history for collectors interested in the roots of cinematic gothic horror.
