Where it came from
Released in 2014 as part of the Marvel Universe Series 5 wave by Funko, the Cyclops (Unmasked) variant was produced to celebrate the iconic leader of the X-Men. This figure depicts Scott Summers without his signature visor, a design choice intended to highlight the character's human identity beneath his mutant capabilities. It emerged during a period of rapid expansion for the Pop! line, capturing a specific aesthetic transition where the brand began experimenting with character variants beyond standard uniform portrayals.
The design follows the classic Pop! silhouette, utilizing the signature oversized head and simplified features that define the aesthetic. While standard versions of Cyclops feature his battle-ready visor, the unmasked variant serves as a collector-focused niche item. Upon its release, it was received as a sought-after piece for completionists of the X-Men set, marking a shift toward character-specific emotional resonance rather than just costume accuracy.
