Where it came from
Cygnus Hyoga, numbered 808 in the Pop! Animation line, is a vinyl figure representing one of the core Bronze Saints from the long-running Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac franchise. Created by Masami Kurumada in the 1980s, the series centers on orphans who gain mystical armor based on various constellations to protect the reincarnation of the goddess Athena. This figure depicts Hyoga in his iconic Cygnus cloth, reflecting the aesthetic popularized by the original manga and its subsequent 1986 anime adaptation.
The figure was produced by Funko as part of their effort to represent classic 1980s and 1990s anime properties in their signature stylized form. By distilling the intricate details of the Cygnus armor into the uniform proportions of the Pop! vinyl aesthetic, the design maintains the character's recognizable color palette—predominantly white and light blue—while adhering to the manufacturer's hallmark large-head, button-eye design language. It serves as a modern collectible piece designed to appeal to both long-time fans of the Saint Seiya saga and contemporary pop culture enthusiasts.
