Where it came from
The Cylon Centurion Pop! figure, designated as number 231 in the Television series, was released by Funko to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1978 Battlestar Galactica science fiction series. Created by Glen A. Larson, the original show left a significant cultural footprint, and the character design of the Centurion—with its iconic chrome finish and sweeping red eye scanner—remains one of the most recognizable robotic antagonists in television history.
Funko’s design team adapted the intricate, militaristic aesthetic of the classic Centurion into their signature stylized vinyl form. By simplifying the sharp angles of the original costume while retaining the metallic aesthetic and the signature scanner plate, the designers aimed to evoke nostalgia for the original series' practical effects. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors who specialize in vintage science fiction memorabilia and those looking to complete their Battlestar Galactica sets.
