Where it came from
The Dragon Lord figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Games line to coincide with the 2022 launch of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a spin-off of the Borderlands series. Developed by Gearbox Software, the game reimagines the franchise's chaotic aesthetic within a high-fantasy tabletop role-playing setting. This specific figure was designed to represent the primary antagonist, capturing his distinctive dark armor and skeletal aesthetic.
Funko’s design team adapted the character's intricate digital model into the simplified, oversized-head silhouette characteristic of the Pop! brand. The figure reflects the game's shift toward whimsical, Dungeons & Dragons-inspired motifs while maintaining the gritty, cel-shaded art style of the broader Borderlands universe. It was produced for the general retail market as a standard entry in the series, serving as a collectible companion to the game's promotional campaign.
